Firehouse 12

45 Crown Street
203-785-0468

Firehouse 12 in New Haven is many things - a recording studio, a full-service bar, a performance space of intimate dimensions (75 seats). And it is loaded with the gritty history of a former city fire house located in the city's historic Ninth Square District. The performance space is the recording studio - and all performances and events happen in an acoustically balanced space with stage lighting systems. Live music happens year-round. The bar is the perfect relaxed setting for conversation and a cocktail before or after a trip to one of the excellent restaurants in the neighborhood, or after a live performance.

This is a cool hip bar in a funky industrial setting. I loved the bar top fabricated from a PSL - very unique. My only complaint is that their liquor selection is a bit limited. They could use to get some more mixers on the shelves, so that their bartenders can mix up a greater variety of cocktails.

This place is a nice little gem in New Haven. It is in a quieter part of town, and is located downstairs in what seems to be the basement of what used to be a firehouse. Now it is a bar with a dimly lit and cozy setting with plenty of comfy seating areas. The vibe is mellow and it is never really too crowded or loud. The bartender is nice and accommodating. They have a reasonable selection of house cocktails and a good selection of beers, wines, and spirits. There's nothing too fancy here, but there's definitely something for everyone and the prices are very reasonable. The food menu is actually pretty impressive. They have a selection of very reasonably priced small plates and flatbread sandwiches that have very unique flavor profiles. There was this dish that had grilled white cheese topped with olives and pickled watermelon that was really tasty. Also, there was a cheesy flatbread sandwich that was also pretty delicious. Firehouse 12 is a great place to go for a drink or a snack in New Haven, especially if you are looking for a quieter place to enjoy time with friends in a nice environment. They apparently have live music at times, but I've never encountered it.

Cozy, intimate and dark- my favorite bar in the New Haven area. Bartenders are friendly, drinks are great, small bites from the kitchen bar always excellent and reasonably priced. DJs spin music Sunday nights and Tuesdays.

The best jazz scene in the area, it is also a studio so the sound and ambience are impeccable. See these excellent musicians in this intimate space while you can because once they play here, the acclaim soars and they go on to larger venues.

Nice atmosphere! Happy hours until 7 offer good deals for drink and they offer a small, but really nice free buffet. The snack are delicious.
