The Jazz Club of Sarasota, one of the largest and most active jazz clubs in the United States, is dedicated to preserving and promoting jazz, America's original musical art form. Founded in 1980 by the late Hal Davis, the former publicist for Benny Goodman, the club has approximately 600 members and is growing. The club presents the Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival, over 35 years, and is one of the major US jazz festivals.
Every year, the Jazz Club of Sarasota grants scholarships to high school and college students who are serious about studying jazz.
Over the course of 30-plus years, the Jazz Club of Sarasota has granted approximately $200,000 to aspiring young jazz musicians in middle school, high school and college..
