The Shed Jazz Club

807 E Main Street # 130
732-570-2935

Located less than a mile from DPAC in Durham's Golden Belt Arts complex, The Shed is a center for Durham's jazz community. We present local and touring acts with a focus on original music presented by up-and-coming artists.

In addition to evening concerts, The Shed is open 10 AM to 4  PM Wednesday through Sunday, serving cold press juice, pour over coffee, and used books.

WHAT MAKES #TheShed DIFFERENT?

For starters, we put MUSIC first. That means putting musicians first - operating as a zero-commission performance space, and offering professional development services like recording and promotion free of charge to featured musicians. We operate within a musical ecosystem, or scene, and our "raison d'etre" is supporting the success of that scene. The Shed provides a place for musicians to launch their careers and build their audiences, and also provides a place for casual and enthusiast audiences to take part in a grassroots music and community arts movement.

ALSO! We work hard to keep kids in school. Two outreach programs, operated through Communities in Schools of Durham and supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, use the Shed as a resource in planning and presenting music outreach and mentorship programs. We embrace the power of MUSIC to change lives, and empower members of the community through creative education and performance programs.
